Samsung
Electronics, the world's largest smartphone maker, said Thursday that it has
sold more than 10 million devices of the Galaxy S4, the latest flagship
smartphone model, in less than a month since its debut.
Global
sales of the Galaxy S4 smartphone surpassed the 10 million mark since its
launch on April 27, according to an emailed statement.
The new
model set a new record for Samsung, generating sales quicker than any of its
predecessors. Sales of the Galaxy S3 reached the 10 million mark 50 days after
its launch, while the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S took five and seven months each to
reach the level.
Market
watchers expect the new flagship model to be a hot sell, especially since
arch-rival Apple has no plans to launch a new model in the near future.
The Galaxy
S4 is available in more than 110 countries and will gradually be rolled out to
a total of 155 nations in cooperation with 327 mobile operators, Samsung said.
